Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Irtyazo Elementary School continues to break down barriers and open doors for hundreds of students in rural Burundi. The school was founded in 2017 by another organization, and since 2023 our role has been to support and strengthen this community-driven foundation so that education in the Irtyazo hills can continue to thrive.

Serving Student Needs

We want to ensure that students have the supplies and books they need to succeed. We aim to remove barriers to learning, support academic achievement, and create opportunities for all students to thrive in their education

Breaking Down Barriers

Where rugged landscape once prevented school attendance, we’ve created a beacon of hope that brings learning directly to the students who need it most.

Community-Powered Growth

Through local partnerships and volunteer efforts, we’ve began the process of building additional classrooms, handing out new textbooks, and fixing desks so that students have a clean and safe space to learn.

Expanding Opportunities

We’re working toward adding 7th grade – a crucial stepping stone that opens pathways to high school and beyond for students who might otherwise leave school to work or manage household duties.
